Community Visitors Scheme

Volunteers empowered by law to visit Victorian accommodation facilities for people with
a disability to monitor and report on the adequacy of services to the Office of the Public Advocate.

The Victorian League for Individuals with a Disability is an advocacy group for adults
with intellectual disabilities and their families.


Action on Disability within Ethnic Communities (ADEC)/

Promotes and protects the rights of people of non-English speaking background living with a disability, and their carers.

Provides advocacy to people with a disability who have high support needs.

Disability Services Commissioner

The Disability Services Commissioner was established on 1 July 2007 under the Disability Act 2006 to improve services for people with a disability in Victoria through assisting in the resolution of complaints raised by or on behalf of people who receive services. The Office of the Disability Commissioner works with people with a disability and disability services to resolve complaints.


National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of providing funding and supports to eligible people with permanent and significant disability their families and carers.
